Room Groupings - Baby and Child Care

In our centres, children are grouped according to their age Levels.

It is our belief that the developmental and educational needs of children are best met within this framework.

Room groupings are as follows:

Nursery 0 weeks to 15 months.
Our focus is on socialisation, spacial awareness, coordination and independence. The children have opportunities to participate in activities like art introducing a variety of painting exercises, and music and movement.

Toddlers 15 months to 3 years.
Staff assist with the beginnings of toilet training, colour and shape recognition, independence, self esteem and socialisation. The children are able to work together at art and craft exercises, and enjoy lots of music and dance.

Senior Toddler 2 to 3 years.

The children are encouraged to further develop their growing independence through guidance from teachers and by modelling appropriate behaviours, and importantly, lots of praise. They continue to develop art and craft skills through the use of a wide variety of experiences. They are given the opportunity for dance, music, stories, dramatic play and a number of other educational activities.

Junior Kindergarten 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years.
The children are taught to assert their emerging independence in suitable ways. They become increasingly responsible, and have lots of opportunities to mix with others. Activities include art and craft, blocks, stories and dramatic play (home corner). Staff are happy to assist families with toilet training.

Senior Kindergarten 3 to 6 years.
As they get older, the children are provided with lots of exciting opportunities to test and expand their skills. Activities become increasing complex and involve classification and concentration. The children will be doing things like cutting and pasting, puzzles, catching and throwing and threading.

Preschool 4 to 6 years.
This is regarded as a preparatory year before Grade One. Numeracy and literacy form an increased part of our Preschool Curriculum, but is balanced with learning skills like problem solving, responsibility, confidence and rules of the group.

Before and After School
Primary school aged children. Relaxed programs are run at the centre for school aged children. The emphasis is on the children having fun, although we provide opportunities for homework and other learning activities.

Holiday Care
Primary school aged children. School Holidays should be a fun time for the children, and it is with this in mind that our Holiday Care program is designed. The children are always busy doing activities or going on excursions. Programs are very flexible and are available a few weeks before each holiday period. Holiday Care is also offered for pupil free days.
